What inspires you?
What makes you do what you do?
What drives you to continue?
What pushes you to get out of bed, get up and get your hustle moving?
And what do you do when your mood is down?
I’m inspired by my prayers, everything around me and moreso, MUSIC. Music is life to me and no matter how bad, angry, sad, slow or irritated I am, the moment I hear a familiar sound, I’m back up.
Currently I’m listening to Victoria Kimani’s debut album, SAFARI.
Ladies, get this album. I’m not telling you to buy it because VK is my friend or she paid me to do this, I mean, in an industry where you will be judged for expressing your femininity, she embraced her innermost heartaches and personal vulnerabilities in a line up of R&B songs totally different from what’s expected from today’s African artist.
Also, you can’t escape the beauty of Track 8 – Black Girl ft Jesse Jagz, how she goes hard on Track 2 – Safari (my current favorite), Track 9 – Giving You ft Sarkodie, and the Eastern Nigerian flavour Phyno adds to Track 12 – Lover
