A few weeks ago, I posted a fringed dress from Lumiere Couture Ghana (take a look) and asked if we are done with the fringe trend yet. Well, today, I’m showing that you can still rock fringe in a fancier light.
When I saw this blush shade fringe dress at the Grey Velvet Lekki Store while looking for an outfit for an event in February, it was the fringe detailing I fell in love with instantly. Woven and intertwined with a modern twist.
Nigerian born designer Sisiano had launched this piece with his Ms. Green: Lipstick Smudge” collection with a lookbook in May 2015 after making his astounding runway debut at the 2014 Lagos Fashion and Design Week. So this wasn’t the first time I had seen this piece, but it was my first time feeling this rich silk and Siasiano’s pieces has always been on my wishlist. I was sold on this dress and the power of well-placed fringe that makes a statement and it had pockets! I knew this was the type of dress strangers will tell you how much they like what I’m wearing and where it’s from.
Even though it’s made of a thick silk fabric that’s luscious on the hand and features a high-low neck, it’s so lightweight for a sunny day and works perfectly well for a day at the office or a Sunday brunch.
Blush tones look prettiest with gold accents, so I couldn’t resist wearing a pair of gold heels and as usual, minimal accessories – sunglasses in white shade. The fringe is such a bold detail I wanted all the accent pieces to be simple.
Goal achieved? If you are still hesitant about wearing fringe, this dress is quite convincing right?
