With over eight years experience and a three years break from their digital publication, Afropolitan fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine especially crafted for brown, savvy women and men, FASHIZBLACK makes a print comeback with a collector issue featuring South African Actress/TV Personality Pearl Thusi and Angolan international model Maria Borges.
For a September issue and one titled “Global Africa”, FashizBlacks’ choice of using these two young women pushing boundaries and stamping their feet on the international scene as their cover girls put the spotlight on the ambassadors of a global & cutting edge Africa.
While most of Africa might know her as the host of MTV’s Lip Sync Battle, Pearl Thusi is a leading TV personality and actress on her way to becoming a household name in Hollywood, and Maria Borges is not only an all-round stunner on and off the runway, she redefined the fashion industry’s standards of sexy when she became the first model to rock her natural hair on the Victoria Secret runway in 2015.
This is definitely a powerful pair for a comeback.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Hair and makeup was kept very subtle for both of their signature natural look. While Pearl has her signature afro, Maria rocks her tiny weeny Afro.
New York based Nigerian stylist Kanayo Ebi with help from OXOSI and Anna Toure PR adorned the models with pieces from leading African fashion designers like Lisa Folawiyo, Tsemaye Binitie, Innocent Messy, Sally Raby Kane, Bridget Awosika and Loza Maleombho, matching up their elegance.
This again is a powerful mix of some of the biggest names putting African fashion on the global map.
If there’s a theme, it’s important for stylists and creative directors to follow through the editorial theme.
