Valentine’s day is here and without a doubt it is the most romantic day of the year! And although it’s a lover’s holiday, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself if you are in a long distant relationship or don’t have a Valentine/lover like some of us who are single, searching but not looking.
I can’t remember the last time I had a lover on Valentine’s Day, but I’ve always found a way to keep myself distracted from all the social media pressure. I hope how I plan to spend my Val’s day inspires you to forget the day for what it is, go ahead and celebrate it in your own way;

  1. Rise & Pray
Pray and be thankful for today like every other day. You don’t have to be sad about being alone on Valentine’s Day, You are alone all the other days too.
  2. Get on your Grind
Remember, you don’t need a Valentine, you need your bank account to stop bleeding and start popping. Thank God today falls on a work day. Wear a comfortable underwear, dress up really nice and get to work on time. Stay focused on work, smile and distract yourself from the various bouquet of flowers and gifts that stop by the office throughout the day, order a delicious lunch from the least romantic restaurant possible, like Chicken Republic’s Rice/Beans or ChickWiz Sandwich and then slip out early.
  3. Surprise someone
Cheer someone up today. Giving is the best way to stay happy. I always spend my Valentine’s day at the Motherless home. This year, that’s not changing for anything.
Catch up with a long-distanced loved one and reconnect with the people you care about.
  4. Treat yourself
-Love yourself even more than usual, and love your neighbour as you love yourself. This should be often!
-Go shopping! Everything is on sale today. I’m a huge fan of candles, so today I’m visiting my favorite candle stores and will indulge in some new fragrances.
    – Pamper yourself a little. Get a massage, a facials, body scrub, manicure or pedicure, get your hair done, stop by House of Tara, Zaron or any makeup studio for professional makeup or just dip yourself in a bubble bath (if you font have one, take your time and do your body scrub yourself while rinsing with a bucket of milk or honey.    I’m getting my hair and makeup done.
  5. Take yourself out
You don’t have to go out with someone else to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Plan a special date night all on your own. Dress up in your finest duds and treat yourself to a date — with you! Enjoy your time on your own and celebrate Valentine’s Day with yourself.
  6. Do some cleansing

I know it’s a day for love but sometimes, you have to love people from a distance and give them the space and time to get their minds right before you let them back into your life – Robert Tew
There are two things you will never have to chase: True friends & True love. Every relationship will affect you good or bad. So make a list of all your friends and exes you are thankful not to be with.
Remember, they are four types of people in our lives; those who Add, Multiply, Subtract or Divide.
    i) Adders – the ones who after a conversation you feel fulfilled.
ii) Subtracters – the ones who discourage you away from your goals.
iii) Multipliers – the ones who are your mentors, coaches or teachers. You gain knowledge in 5 minutes from through their years of experiences, through all of their hardships, through their life lessons without having to actually go through it.
iv) Dividers – the ones who make you lose sight of your goals and often pressure you to choose between them and your dream.

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)

  7. Read a book
Single and searching, James Scott’s How to be a Guy Magnet is a must-read.
Send me an email if you are interested. Will email you a copy if you send me an email that you are interested.
  8. Count your blessings
Finally, last but not the least, this doesn’t require a list because our blessings are uncountable. But better to lose count while naming your blessings than to lose your blessings to counting your troubles. And be thankful for what you have, rather than what you want.Godluck finding “The One”
