There’s just something about a white shirt I love. It’s not just about that “walk of shame” look inspired by Carrie Bradshaw and other silly romantic comedies, the perfect white button-down shirt can take you anywhere and it’s a very diverse wardrobe staple you should have at least two of.
This year alone, we’ve seen different styles of the button-down shirt when designers went back to basics on the Spring 2016 runways adding a clever riff and a refreshing twist on the staple, and showing how more versatile it can be. So you can have the classic and the white shirts with a modern update – wrapped waist, asymmetrical hemline, slashed cutout, to liven up the classic shirt we once borrowed from the boys.
I have about 5 almost identical white shirts (click HERE & HERE) and love pairing them several ways. You can either belt it, tuck it, crop it and pair it with a cigarette pant for a classic look, a pair of jean trouser for a casual look or just throw it on like I did on a denim short for a casual day out. I went for the socks trend to add a little edge.
