Brand Name: Toju Foyeh
Creative Director: Toluwaloju Olowofoyeku
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Collection Title: “Beguile” Bridal
This collection was first seen at the 2015 Heineken Lagos Fashion Design Week where Toju launched her TF bridal line. Just like its title “Beguile”, the collection features enchanting dresses made of modern sheers, embellishments and charming details.
Toju chose a powerful team to work on this collection; the lookbook/campaign was shot by top photographer Big H who captured international model Nwando Ebeledike effortlessly showing off the sultry pieces with her pretty face and luscious dark skin.
The campaign was shot against a cracked brown wall with model Nwando wearing a simple sheer dress featuring intricate appliqués, and rocking from fierce pantsuits to sleek ballgown that feature a diverse range of bridal gowns for the woman who isn’t afraid to be boldly feminine, fashion-foward and uber chic on her wedding day.
Nwando is adorned in statement flower crowns, beautiful bouquets and crowns that will make any bride feel like a queen on that special day.
P/S – Watch out for more from Nwando who recently moved to Lagos.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Hair was by Rapheal Maria, and makeup by Abeke Makeovers.
Nwando had her hair in various elegant and sleek styles suitable for brides. Although hair was a bit rough for some looks, makeup perfectly done and well blended and together worked for Nwando. I would have loved the makeup a little while complimenting the “Beguile” dresses.
Overall, the lookbook had beautiful images with Big H capturing Nwando even in flash. But I got lost somewhere around the theme of the shoot and wanted to find out the Art Director responsible for this outcome, only to see there was none.
For every fashion shoot that involves a fashion brand, a photographer, model, makeup artist and hair stylist, there is the need for an Art/Creative Director/Stylist who is responsible for creating a story board on how you want the images to look like, and making sure everything stays within context of a certain vision or concept and that nothing strays on the day of the shoot. .
In short, Art Director ensures that the overall look is consistent with your brand. Consistency is key for easier marketing, recognition and consumers’ experience.
